Lens Crafter and Eye Exam 2000 No No's
Try your best to be selective when choosing a place to have your eye exam and when you are purchasing eyeglasses. Lens Crafters and Eye Exam 2000 in my book are the worst places out there to go to. These two businesses are owned by one company, and at the end of the day everything they do is about business. Starting with Eye Exam 2000, I don't believe the problem lies with the doctors hired on, but the management. Doctors at Eye Exam 2000 are probably pressured in over recommending services and options on upgrades on purchase's. How would you feel getting an exam from a car salesman..."Exactly"! I don't want a pushy eye doctor anymore than the next guy.
Moving over to the counter part of Eye Exam 2000, which is Lens Crafters. The only two things positive about them are that they have a large selection in eyewear and they have the best 30 day full return policy.
The list of bad things about this place..hhmm where do I even start. They are one of the most expensive places to purchase eyeglasses out there, even when there is a sale going on, it really is still too over priced.
The demand on their saleman to perform and meet monthly quotas are insane. They probably have a high turn over rate on sales employees. The main complaints I hear are about the finished product and quality of their eyeglasses on completion. Let me spell it out in caps for you all 'R.E.D.O". The redo ratio of Lens Crafters is crazy. For example I had a friend come to me to check out a prescription that she had done at Lens Crafters 1 hour service, just to see if the prescrtiption she got from my office matched up with the glasses they made her. Just to make things clear, she would of purchased the eyeglasses from me, but needed the emergency pair because she flying out of town that night. Back to the story at hand, I read her glasses and you can put money on it, of course they were incorrect. To make a long story short, my friend had to return to Lens Crafters three more times to get it right and wasted four hours of her time. She practically missed her flight lol.
Lens Crafters could probably improve a lot if they had better quality control or better recruiting of competent optical techs in the lab.

Watch out for Cheap under Ten Dollar Deals on Eyeglasses!
Finding great deals on eyeglasses is always a great thing, especially when you have a big family to provide for. A lot of these under ten dollar eyeglass websites are popping up everywhere. The biggest problem with these sites is that most of them are based out of China. There are no regulations and standards that they have to abide by, meaning that your eyeglasses you purchase from them could be made out of poor quality substances.
For example like lead, do you really want your child or you to be wearing some time of hazardous materials on your faces. Most of the time if its cheap, manufactures in China will use it. And as for their lens quality forget about it, they probably would not pass any U.S. lens breakage standards. You see on T.V. all the time when some manufactures in China gets busted for using pooring quality materials in toys, house hold products and etc. Always do a little research before shopping online for eyeglasses, and to be on the safe side make sure the company is based out of the U.S. or least not out of China!

What anti-scratch does for you
Anti-scratch coated lens don't do as much as you think. When you buy this coating you should understand that the anti-scratch coating only helps reduce scratching and dust, but is not "SCRATCH PROOF". Glass lenses are by far the best against scratching and wear and tear, but not as popular since the lenses are so heavy. If you are willing to spend the extra money, definitely look into hydrophobic coatings. You can find this in premium anti-reflection coatings, which offer an all in one AR, Anti-Scratch and warranty.

Distinguishing a blended bifocal from a progressive
The most common mistake multifocal wears make is mixing up a blended bifocal lens to a progressive lens. A blended bifocal lens is blended, there is no visible line from the distance and near, and only offers vision for dstance and near. Now a progressive lens on the other hand also is blended, but the main difference is that it also offers the intermediate vision. More like a tri-focal lens, but offering a smooth seemless blend with no lines at all. So the next time you plan to order a multifocal lens, you always want to have an idea of exactly what you want to order before spending money on something you really didn't ask for.

People who wear transitions lenses...what they should know!
If you are looking into purchasing any type of photocromatic lenses such as the Transitions brand, here are things you need to know first. Buying transition lenses is not a cure for all, meaning that it does not replace your sunglasses completely. Transition lens ideal wearer is an active person who works and spends most of their time outdoors. It's nice to know that when your outside you are protected from the glaring sun, and when your inside the lenses are completely clear. Now if you are a person that spends most of the time indoors, the transition lenses might not work the way you expect them to.
The reason for this is that the Transition lenses are U.V. activated. So for those people who have a long drive home from work, the windows in your car block U.V. rays from passing through, simply letting the brightness of the sunlight still shine in your eyes, even though you were wearing transitions lenses. Yes I know, it's frustrating to hear and think about. So if you wear glasses fulltime and need a relief from the blazing sun, you should definitely weigh out all your options first. (seperate pair of sunglasses) (clip-on shades) (Transitions lenses) Hope you enjoyed this wonderful information brought to you by http://www.paylessforglasses.com/
